Paul 'Bushido' Jeffery

Paul began tattooing in 2001, building his foundations through a traditional apprenticeship before working across a number of respected studios throughout the North East. In 2015, he established Bushido Tattoo in Hexham with his partner Fliss, creating a private, welcoming studio environment centred on professionalism, hygiene and exceptional quality.
Today, Paul’s work is primarily focused on Japanese tattooing, with a particular emphasis on Traditional and Neo-Japanese styles. His approach draws on the strength, balance and flow that define this enduring art form — designing large-scale, cohesive pieces that move naturally with the body and tell deeply personal stories.
While Japanese work is at the core of his portfolio, Paul is equally accomplished in black and grey tattooing, particularly realism. He is also widely trusted for complex cover-ups, known for transforming challenging existing work into strong, harmonious designs.
Japanese tattooing remains central to Paul’s artistic identity. Rooted in centuries-old principles, it is a style built on intention rather than trends — bold imagery, powerful contrast, and compositions designed to age with strength and clarity. Each piece is carefully considered, ensuring it carries both visual impact and lasting meaning.
